Shell’s Deer Park, Texas refinery was built in 1929. Shell is a subsidiary of a major international oil company. The Deer Park Refinery is a 50-50 venture between Shell and Pemex, the national oil company of Mexico. It is the sixth-largest refinery in the United States.
There have been several serious accidents at the Deer Park refinery.
On January 22, 2014, there was a fire at Shell’s Deer Park.
In November 2010, there was a fire at Shell’s Deer Park refinery which injured several people, including first responders. The affected unit had to be shut down.
In September 1979, several workers were critically injured in a tanker explosion at Shell’s Deer Park Refinery.
